Today is National Dog Day! A couple of fun facts about dogs–the record for tallest dog in a Great Dane named Zeus–44 inches tall. And Greyhounds could beat a cheetah in a long-distance race–they can run 35 mph for 7 miles straight!

Dogs are amazing pets, and one thing they are known for is their loyalty. Are you loyal? Do you stick by your friends and stand up for them? Do you care for your family? What about God? Do you stand up for him? God is faithful, in a perfect way. Humans are not perfect–even one of his disciples pretended to not know Jesus on the night of Jesus’ death, not just once, but three times. We will mess up, but God welcomes us back every time. Be honest with him and admit your weakness, but keep the faith.

Don’t ever let love and loyalty leave you. Tie them around your neck, and write them on your heart. Then God will be pleased and think well of you and so will everyone else.
Trust the Lord completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge. With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way. Don’t trust in your own wisdom, but fear and respect the Lord and stay away from evil.

Proverbs 3:3-7 (ERV)

Dear Lord, Help me to stand true today and to be loyal to you, my family and my friends. Give me strength and wisdom to do it, and help me see when it’s needed. Amen.
