Today is National… Kick Butt Day! You heard that right–today you kick butt. No, not literally of course, please don’t go around and kick people’s butts. It means that you do your best and take on a challenge. It means to work harder towards your goal. Or maybe to set some new goals to kick butt on–like learning a sport, a language, ride your bike–who knows? Maybe not learn how to be a ninja quite yet…

Kick butt and work towards your goal. You have a goal of getting closer to God and learning about him, right? And that’s something you can work on. But you also have to remember that we can’t just “kick butt” and do it ourselves. God is a major part of the equation–he’s most of the equation and we’re just like one decimal point. So pray, read your Bible, memorize verses–but remember who is in control.

I don’t mean that I am exactly what God wants me to be. I have not yet reached that goal. But I continue trying to reach it and make it mine. That’s what Christ Jesus wants me to do. It is the reason he made me his. 13 Brothers and sisters, I know that I still have a long way to go. But there is one thing I do: I forget what is in the past and try as hard as I can to reach the goal before me. 14 I keep running hard toward the finish line to get the prize that is mine because God has called me through Christ Jesus to life up there in heaven.

Philippians 3:12-15 (ERV)
