Today is National Edge Day, which supports youth who are trying to stay away from drugs, drinking and smoking. It’s perfect timing, because in the news lately, there has been a lot of people sick from vaping. Kids and teens think vaping is safe, but it’s not, not at all. Read the news article for more info on how bad it is for you.

As you grow older, sometimes people (even friends) will try and talk you into trying things you know you shouldn’t do. Like vaping or smoking–since the cigarette makers create kid-friendly flavors like sour patch kids–it’s easy for people to say “hey, you need to try this! It tastes just like sour patch kids!” Temptation is hard to resist. Everyone has something they struggle with–maybe lying, maybe candy, maybe saying mean things–and those are the things we hide and won’t admit that we do.

God forgives. 100% wiped clean. But you need to admit it and confess. You know who else forgives? Parents. You may have punishment, but honestly, being punished is better than carrying guilt around all the time. Doesn’t it make you feel awful when you know you lied? Ask forgiveness. And be strong–don’t give in to your friends. Be the one they can depend on for help.

And if they have sinned, he will forgive them.
16 So always tell each other the wrong things you have done. Then pray for each other. Do this so that God can heal you.

James 5:15-16 (ERV)

Dear Lord, Forgive me–I’ve lied, I’ve said mean things, I had a bad attitude, I talked back to my parents–forgive me. Give me strength each day to say no to things that are bad for me. Help me to stay strong in my faith in you. Thank you for forgiveness. Amen.
