April 22, 2020: Love the Earth
Today is Earth Day, a day to think about how we can care for the earth and take care of it better. Some fun facts: the first official Earth Day happened in 1970 when 20 million people joined in to bring attention to it, and it became an International Earth Day later in 1990. This year is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and even with social distancing going on, there is still a virtual Earth Day happening. The theme this year is “Climate Action“.
The idea of taking action on climate change is to do something, whether it’s big or small, to try and change something that’s wrong. Taking action is a good thing to do in a lot of areas of life.
How can you take action against a bully? How can you take action when someone is being disrespectful? Think of your own actions…is there something you do that needs taking care of and fixing? If you know something, you need to do something about it.
17 If you fail to do what you know is right, you are sinning.
James 4:17 (ERV)
My children, our love should not be only words and talk. No, our love must be real. We must show our love by the things we do.
1 John 3:18 (ERV)
Dear Lord, forgive me for not stepping up and doing the right thing, even when I know I should. Give me strength and bravery to do it. Amen.
