Sweetness

Fun fact for the night: well, not a fun fact but a good one to know–did you know that grapes (so raisins too) are poisonous for dogs and cats? It will cause kidney failure and can be deadly. So far researchers have not figured out what it is in grapes that causes it.
In Exodus, the Israelites were wandering in the desert after escaping from Egypt, with Moses leading them. Water was hard to find, and when they did find it, they couldn’t drink it–it says it was so bitter it was undrinkable, which could possibly mean it was contaminated and almost like it was poison.
Then Moses made Israel set out from the Red Sea, and they went into the wilderness of Shur. They went three days in the wilderness and found no water. 23 When they came to Marah, they could not drink the water of Marah because it was bitter; therefore it was named Marah.[b] 24 And the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” 25 And he cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a log,[c] and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet.
Exodus 15:22-25 (ESV)
God made the water fit to drink, even to where it is described as sweet. So not just removing the bitterness, but making it good-tasting water. God can remove bitterness from our lives and replace it with sweetness. His word is often called sweet–even “sweeter than the honeycomb”. Read your Bible, and pray to God to change whatever negative, bitter thoughts you have to sweetness.
How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Psalm 119: 103 (NIV)
Dear Jesus, I am often bitter–I get angry, negative, jealous, and unkind. Forgive me. Fill me with your Sweetness Lord. Amen.
