Today is World Teachers Day. In the US, we have Teacher Appreciation Days, but internationally October 5th is it (though it’s a bit funny it’s on a Saturday when you don’t have school). Think about how much your teacher helps you. Even if you aren’t totally into school, I’m guessing you have a teacher who pushes you to be better, and who is looking out for you.
You have a lot of teachers besides school. Do you have a coach? Someone you take music lessons with? A tutor? Boy or Girl Scout leader? Maybe a friend’s parent? There are a lot of ways you are taught. Jesus was called a teacher while he was on earth by his disciples. Remember that Jesus is the ultimate teacher, and his teachings were giving us the keys to salvation.
24 “Whoever hears these teachings of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock. 25 It rained hard, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house. But it did not fall because it was built on rock.
Matthew 7:24-29 (ERV)
26 “Whoever hears these teachings of mine and does not obey them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 It rained hard, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house. And it fell with a loud crash.”
28 When Jesus finished speaking, the people were amazed at his teaching. 29 He did not teach like their teachers of the law. He taught like someone who has authority.
Dear Jesus, thank you for your teachings, thank you for giving me your words to learn from. Help me to have a good attitude towards learning each day. Amen.
