Witnessing History — July 16, 2020
Now that COVID19 has been going on for months here in the US (and it seems it’s going to be here for a bit longer too), has anyone said to you “Well, you’re seeing history happening.” ? Do you know what that means? It means that we keep seeing things that have either never happened, or haven’t happened in a long time. The US has never been shut down like this, and we haven’t had a pandemic like this for a century. This is one of those moments in history that you will be telling YOUR kids about–crazy.
The people in Jesus’ time witnessed history–they had been waiting for a Savior for many, many years. But not everyone who saw him believed it was the true Messiah–he was not what they expected for sure.
We have a Savior who was humble and 100% human. He did not swoop in and crush the rulers of the time. He came in as a servant and died for us. Not what people were expecting, but everything we didn’t know we needed.
You accepted Christ Jesus as Lord, so continue to live following him. 7 You must depend on Christ only, drawing life and strength from him. Just as you were taught the truth, continue to grow stronger in your understanding of it. And never stop giving thanks to God…I say this because all of God lives in Christ fully, even in his life on earth. 10 And because you belong to Christ you are complete, having everything you need. Christ is ruler over every other power and authority.
Colossians 2:6-7 , 9-10 (ERV)
Dear Lord, help me to lean on you more each day, and to trust you with my life. Forgive my sins from today. Thank you for being the Savior who understands me. Amen.
