Today is National Toasted Marshmallow Day, which is fitting for the end of summer. Fun fact: did you know marshmallow is made from the mallow plant, and Ancient Egyptians used to get its sap and make sweets and candy from it, way back in 2000 BC! The marshmallow like we know it first started in France in the late 1800’s and the world’s record for largest s’more was 1,600 pounds and used 20,000 marshmallows and 7,000 bars of chocolate.

Imagine being the first Egyptian to think of trying some sort of sap from a plant and make it delicious. That’s really showing some creativity to transform something that much. You are transformed by God. He took you as an imperfect human being, full of sin, and transformed you into something new. But what does he want in return? He wants you to be ‘hungry’ to be with him, to learn about him, to seek his face.

When anyone is in Christ, it is a whole new world.[a] The old things are gone; suddenly, everything is new!

2 Corinthians 5:17 (ERV)

Dear Lord, Thank you for transforming me and giving me life and purpose. Amen.
