Kindness

Today is World Kindness Day–it’s a day to practice small acts of kindness. The hope with kindness is that it spreads–you do something nice, others may notice or they may not. We don’t do acts of kindness to get praise, but if someone sees it, there’s a hope that they may be motivated to do a kind act for someone else.
Most of the fruits of the spirit–the things God wants us to aim for–most of them can be spread by seeing someone else do them. When you see someone being kind, or loving, or patient–it motivates you a bit, doesn’t it? Or maybe you feel a bit guilty that you aren’t doing those things?
Making the world a more positive, better place is a habit to work on every day. God tells us to do these things. One little step each day. Who knows? Maybe you’ll start a chain of events.
But the fruit that the Spirit produces in a person’s life is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control.
Galatians 5:22-23 (ERV)
Dear Lord, give me an opportunity to be kind to someone today. Let it not be out of pride, but just pure kindness. Give me your love for people today, that I may be patient and gentle with them. Amen.
