Fun fact for the night: a few years ago in England, a swarm of bees followed a car for two days–why? They were desperately trying to save their queen from the metal monster. Or as the news article put it “This is the story of a ferocious army determined to rescue their queen from a metal fortress.”
Those bees were determined to save their queen. What loyalty. How loyal are you? Do you stand by your friends and not let them get made fun of? Good. But do you stand by your friends and not let them make fun of other people? Being a good friend means calling out your friends too. It means that you keep each other in line.
As you get older, find friends who keep you in touch with God, who pray for you and with you. Find friends who have your back, but will also tell you when you’re being stupid, or doing things that would make God sad.
In the same way that iron sharpens iron, a person sharpens the character of his friend.

Dear Lord, Thank you for my friends. Help me to be a loyal and good friend, so I can keep my friends in touch with you . Help us to become men and women of God. Amen.
