Today in the year 1984, McDonald’s made its 50 billionth hamburger. That was over 35 years ago. They used to track how many had been sold in their stores, but they stopped counting in 1994 and now their signs just say “over 99 billion sold”. The theory is that they sell about 2.365 billion burgers every year. That’s a lot of burgers.

One reason McDonald’s is so successful is that they have made their food consistent–most of the time, the burgers pretty much taste the same. Doing something 99 billion times makes a pretty consistent habit.

What if you practiced saying thank you a few times a day? Or prayed a few times a day? Being grateful? Content? Loving? Patient? If you practiced those things even three times a day, that’s 1095 times a year. Think you’d be in a pretty consistent habit?

Make God and his teachings part of your day.

16 Always be full of joy. 17 Never stop praying. 18 Whatever happens, always be thankful. This is how God wants you to live in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (ERV)
