In the news: a company in Lancaster, CA, has found a way to concentrate the sun’s rays. It’s different from regular solar energy in that it gets super hot, kind of like when you use a magnifying glass to burn things. It can help with fighting climate change–for example, it can help melt metal and make concrete, both of those take huge amounts of energy. Did you know that making cement is currently 7% of the world’s total carbon dioxide pollution? So this super hot, super bright sunlight can help make the world a better place.

We can make the world a better place by being a super bright light too. Jesus is the Light of the World (John 8:12) God tells us to be a light into the world. What does that mean? It means you shine the Truth about God to the world. How? Share your faith and live your life in a way that shows the world God’s truth through your actions, words, and love.

14 “You are the light that shines for the world to see. You are like a city built on a hill that cannot be hidden. 15 People don’t hide a lamp under a bowl. They put it on a lampstand. Then the light shines for everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:14-16 (ERV)

Dear Lord, You are the Light, the Truth. Help me to live my life in a way, that other people can see your light through me. Amen.
