Do I have a whammy of a day for you… it’s National Encouragement Day!! … Not what you were hoping for?? Okay, how about National Chocolate Milkshake and National Video Games Day? Yes, seriously, all these on one day. We just need the 12th to be on a weekend so we can drink milkshakes and play video games all day, right? Fun fact: in 1963 the CIA tried to kill Castro (a bad ruler of Cuba) with a poisoned chocolate milkshake… it didn’t work. Bonus video game fact: Shigeru Miyamoto, the man who created Super Mario Brothers and Donkey Kong is not allowed to bike to work–Nintendo told him he has to ride in a car because he’s too important to the company and they don’t want him to get hurt.
So you may not be quite as interested in Encouragement Day, but it’s important. Think about it–do you like having people around you who complain all the time, and don’t support you? No, it’s awesome when your friends give you support and encouragement. Be that kind of friend. Be that kind of person. If you start encouraging, it’ll become a habit. It’s a form of love and sharing God’s love to people.
So support one another. Keep building each other up as you have been doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 (VOICE)
Dear Lord, I fail at remembering to be encouraging and hopeful to others, forgive me, and help me to do better at it today. Amen.
