Lollipop Dreams — July 20, 2020
Today is National Lollipop Day, so a few fun facts about them: The largest one was made by See’s Candies in California and weighed 7000 pounds, in 1908 a machine was made that could make 40 lollipops a minute, and a company called Hotlix makes lollypops with insects in them–yes, we wrote that correctly–you can get a lollypop with a scorpion, cricket, worm or ants inside. Uh, you first, then I’ll do it…
God’s word is described as sweet for us–how can that be? Think about how much you enjoy candy–that taste overwhelms you sometimes. But God’s word you can never get tired of.
How sweet your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey.
Psalm 119:103 (NLD)
Notice two more things: 1. to me–it’s a personal thing to experience the sweetness of God’s word. 2. Remember that honey is more than a sweetener–it’s life-giving, especially in Bible times. Sugar wasn’t plentiful, and honey was an important thing to have. God’s word is even more so.
Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for your word. Forgive me for not reading and memorizing it as I should. Help me to do better–give me a hunger for your word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
