Christmas fun fact: In some Germany, Poland and the Ukraine, it’s good luck to find a spider’s web on your Christmas tree (I haven’t figured out if they mean real or fake)–one legend says a spider wove Jesus’ blanket in the stable…maybe it was Charlotte? Sounds like something she would do… So it’s common to decorate a Christmas tree with fake spider webs as ornaments, to bring good luck.
Though most people aren’t fans of spiders, you have to admit that the webs are pretty cool. They are so complex, but based on the same basic design. When you see one in the morning with the dew on it–it’s magical. And they’re so strong–a death trap for insects. Masterfully planned.
We have a God who has masterfully planned the universe for us–and we are part of that masterful plan. All of history shows God’s work–He has a path and a plan. Tragedy and heartbreak are part of it, but so is everlasting hope–hope that in the end, all is perfect.
13 I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace as you trust in him. Then you will have more and more hope, and it will flow out of you by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13 (ERV)
Dear Spirit, Fill me with your power and hope today. Forgive me for when I do not have faith in your plan. Teach me your ways Lord. Fill me with joy and peace and trust.
