January 24, 2020 – Compliments
Today is National Compliment Day. A compliment is when you say something nice to someone, sometimes about their character, like ‘you’ve been working hard’ and sometimes about something you notice, like ‘hey, I like your shirt’. Both are good and show that you’re interested in that person. The cool thing about saying a compliment is that you don’t have to know the person–try giving a stranger a compliment and see what happens–you could totally make their day!
Saying nice things is a pretty obvious way to show God’s love to the world. But sometimes you forget to say nice things to the people closest to you. When is the last time you told your mom that she’s a great cook? Or your best friend–have you told him that he’s getting really good at tennis? In a weird way, it’s almost easier to tell strangers nice things.
Make sure and give compliments today.
