I didn’t want to mention it this morning, but it’s Friday the 13th. A lot of people believe that Friday the 13th is a day filled with bad luck. Fun fact though: in some countries, black cats are good luck, Tuesday the 13th is a bad luck day, and in Sweden, it’s bad luck to put your keys on a table… so, don’t put too much into these bad luck charms.
Of course, that’s not true–as Christians, we can use the word luck, but we don’t believe the big events in our lives are because of luck, good or bad. God has our lives planned and he knows what happens to us during the day. Nothing of our lives is luck, but God’s plan. It’s hard when bad things do happen, but even in the middle of hurting, God is there. We aren’t able to know why God lets things happen, but we need to trust along the way. Some days it seems like the universe is out to get you, but it’s not. God is still in control of it all, and he loves you, through it all.
5 Trust the Lord completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge. 6 With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way.
Proverbs 3:5 (ERV)
Dear Lord, Teach me to trust in you even during the bad times. It seems impossible to do that, show me the way. Amen.
