What Would You Do…? — June 27, 2020

In the news this week, a miner in the country of Tanzania (Eastern Africa) found two huge pieces of the gemstone Tanzanite. He sold them and made $3.35 million dollars–yikes! His plans now that he’s a millionaire? First, a big party. Then–he wants to build a school, because in that area of Tanzania, there are not many schools and not everyone has the opportunity to learn.
What would you do if you won a huge prize? First off, you do have a huge prize–Jesus’ salvation. We have the biggest jewel in earth and heaven–being saved from sin and being a child of God. Second, what good would you do in the world if you had the chance? Think about it, and then think–is there anything really stopping you? Sure, you may not have millions to open a school, but maybe you can donate books to needy kids, or sponsor a child in another country for them to have schoolbooks.
At that time the Lord their God will save his people like a shepherd saves his sheep. They will be very precious to him. They will be like sparkling jewels in his land.
Zechariah 9:16 (ERV)
Dear Lord, Thank you for the greatest gift of all. Forgive me for when I forget, and when I am not grateful for it. Help me to be more generous and giving as a way of showing my thankfulness. Amen.
