Something Stinks… : June 28, 2020
In the news this week, post office workers in Germany thought they had a toxic package–an awful smell was coming from one, so bad that twelve people were treated and six people had to go to the hospital. When police opened it, what do you think they found? Not even close–they found durian fruit.
Durian fruit is a rare fruit from Asia that is supposedly amazingly delicious, but… they stink so bad that it’s even illegal to have durian fruit in some public spaces. People describe it to smell like poop, skunks, or even like vomit, you know, throw-up. Dare you to try it…
You know what else stinks? Our unconfessed sins. Tell the truth–how many of you ask for forgiveness for what you did wrong during the day? Most of us pray quick prayers like “Thank you for the food, my house, be with my cousin Jimmy, or help today to go well”. But do you ask for forgiveness every time you pray? If not, you may be sending up a stink to God.
When learn about how to pray, it’s usually ACTS: Adoration (Praise & Worship), Confession (asking for forgiveness), Thanksgiving (thanking God for his goodness), and Supplication (asking for what we need). Work on the confession part the next few days.
‘Our Father in heaven, we pray that your name will always be kept holy. 10 We pray that your kingdom will come— that what you want will be done here on earth, the same as in heaven. 11 Give us the food we need for today. 12 Forgive our sins, just as we have forgiven those who did wrong to us. 13 Don’t let us be tempted, but save us from the Evil One
Matthew 6: 9-13 (ERV)
Dear Lord, You are Worthy of honor and praise, forgive me for being so selfish today, thank you for your goodness to me. Give me a heart for confession Lord, Amen.
