Even if you don’t live in California or the West Coast, you’ve probably heard of the famous burger chain, In-N-Out Burger. It’s known for having a simple menu, and just doing the basics really well. Fun fact about In-N-Out: it first opened in 1948 when a cheeseburger cost .30 cents, and the founder invented the 2-way speaker that all drive-thrus use nowadays. Another fun fact you may not know is that they hide Bible verses on their wrappers:
- Hamburger and Cheeseburger Wrappers: Revelation 3:20
- Double-Double Hamburger Wrapper: Nahum 1:7
- French-Fry Tray: Proverbs 24:16
- Beverage Cups: John 3:16
- Milkshake Cups: Proverbs 3:5
- Water Cups: John 14:6
- Merchandising, License Plate and Keychain: 1 Corinthians 13:13
It’s a pretty cool way to put a little bit of the message of God out there to the world.
How can you put it out there? Some athletes write verses on their shoes, or eyeblack, people put verses on bumper stickers–how can you put a little bit out there for the world in a stealth kind of way? First thing though–find a verse that’s your favorite, that says something about God’s greatness and love. Then find a way to show it to the world. Like the double-double wrapper:
The Lord is good.
Nahum 1:7 (ERV)
He is a safe place to go to in times of trouble.
He takes care of those who trust him.
Dear Lord, Forgive me for not sharing how great you are to the world. Help me to find a way to show people your love and introduce them to the Bible. Amen.
