Boys vs Girls–who wins? It depends on what you’re playing, and who you have right? It’s really normal when you’re younger to go through a period when you’d rather play with just boys, or just girls–not mixed.

Ruth part 2: In the story of Ruth, she has to follow her mother-in-law to a new country. There she works, meets Boaz who ends up taking care of her. All to be part of God’s plan.

We saw yesterday that God uses anyone, normal people. But the other thing about Ruth is, well, she’s a woman–a girl. In Bible times, women were not treated equally. Even in the world right now, there are countries where women are seen as lower than men. In the US, women couldn’t vote for a long time, and they still are often paid less money than men, for doing the same job. That’s not right, is it?

It’s totally okay to want to just play with the boys, or just girls, but you are a generation of kids that can change the world–the best way is to grow up seeing everyone as equal, and worthy of respect. Boys, girls, from any country or background, rich or poor. We all are royalty of God.

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

Philippians 2:3-4 (NLT)

Dear Lord, thank you for making so many different types of people, and for giving me friends who I respect and admire. Amen.
