Today is National Cat Day. Cats–you either love them, or you hate them, right? Does anyone feel just kinda, eh, about cats? Okay, maybe you do, but there are definitely some people that LOVE cats. Fun fact: did you know in Ancient Egypt they thought cats were sacred? You got in big trouble if you harmed one, and they even had a cat god, named Bastet. And of course, cats do not have 9 lives.

We have one life to live. We don’t know when God will call us home, but we shouldn’t live in fear of it. God has our life as part of his plan for the world–isn’t that a comfort? Once you’ve told God that you’re a sinner, that you believe that Jesus died for your salvation, repent, and ask God to come into your life as your personal Savior.

But then, as a way of honoring Jesus’ sacrifice, and out of gratitude, we try and live each day to the best we can. You’re not perfect, but find a way to show kindness and mercy each day. Work on making other people more important than your own needs. Think about that–if you can stop and think about how someone else is feeling, think about a way to help someone else–even when it may be out of your way–you’ll be making a statement for God.

16 Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him would not be lost but have eternal life.

John 3:16 (ERV)

Dear Jesus, Forgive me of my sins. Thank you for saving me. I believe in God the Father, in Jesus his Son, and in the Holy Spirit. Please be my Savior for my life. Amen.
