January 14, 2020 – Independence
On January 14, 1784, the Revolutionary War officially ended. Did you know that the United States was once under the control of England? Our country started out as a territory of England, so the Revolutionary War was when the US fought for independence from England. On this day, in 1784, that was when the treaty (agreement) was signed, ending the war and England agreed to let the US be independent, free from British control.
We are made independent, free from the control of sin. Jesus came and set us free. Do you live like a free person? You are a child of God, remember that. God is victory over sin and over Satan. Stand strong in the faith.
The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
2 Corinthians 3:17 (ERV)
We have freedom now, because Christ made us free. So stand strong in that freedom. Don’t go back into slavery again.
Galatians 5:1 (ERV)
Dear Jesus, thank you for saving me from sin and slavery to Satan, you have saved me and made me your own. Thank you. Remind me today that I am a child of the living God, standing strong in freedom. Amen.
