It feels like we just celebrated this, but it’s National Pepperoni Pizza Day! (it was on Sept. 5 that we had Cheese pizza day… fun facts about pizza–Americans eat so much pizza that it is roughly 350 slices per second every year… whoa, that’s a lot of pizza, and 36% is pepperoni. The first pizzas were made in Italy, and had mozzarella, tomatoes and basil–red, white and green–the colors of the Italian flag. Didn’t know that there was some meaning in your pizza, did you?
Sometimes we don’t look deep enough at things, and we just pass by them with a quick look. But God sees us. Really sees us. He looks at our heart. I don’t know about you, but that makes me a bit nervous. God sees my heart and knows I have a hard time being unselfish, he knows that I’m jealous of what others have, and he knows that I like playing video games more than reading my Bible… He knows all that and he loves me anyways. But… I do need to ask forgiveness and ask for his help in having the fruits of the spirit in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
God doesn’t look at what people see. People judge by what is on the outside, but the Lord looks at the heart.
1 Samuel 16:7 (ERV)
Dear Lord, I can’t believe you love me, even when my heart is not pure. Thank you. Fill me with the fruits of the Spirit today. Amen.
