April 13, 2020: Now What?

We just had Holy Week, Good Friday, then Easter… so now what? Sometimes it’s a bit of a let-down after a big holiday, a big event. Like how do you feel the day after your birthday, or Christmas?
What we need to remember is that Easter means Joy–everlasting, never-put-out- Joy. Jesus did it. God’s plan for salvation worked–they defeated death. Forever.
We just need to have that Joy in our hearts. Having Joy doesn’t mean the same thing as happiness–it doesn’t mean you never get mad, sad, angry–it just means that while you’re going through all of that–you have the Joy in your heart. To stay.
The truth is, you will cry and be sad, but the world will be happy. You will be sad, but then your sadness will change to happiness…Now you are sad, but I will see you again, and you will be happy. You will have a joy that no one can take away. 23 In that day you will not have to ask me about anything. And I assure you, my Father will give you anything you ask him for in my name. 24 You have never asked for anything in this way before. But ask in my name, and you will receive. And you will have the fullest joy possible.
John 16: 20, 22-24 (ERV)
Dear Jesus, thank you for saving me. Help me understand what it means to have Joy in my life, Joy from knowing you. Amen.
