How about a couple of fun facts for today? Did you know that the Blue Jay bird can mimic the call of a hawk to scare other birds away? Some boy lemurs will ‘stink fight’ each other–yep, you guessed it–they send stinky smells at each other…you can figure out how… and last one, did you know that baby elephants suck their trunks for comfort?

When you were a baby, you probably sucked your thumb, hand, fingers–any of them were comforting to you. Maybe now that you’re older, you have other things that bring you comfort (even if you don’t want to admit it), maybe like a favorite blanket, a stuffed animal, or even something like a smooth polished stone you like to rub.

God comforts his people, in times of stress, in times of trouble. Don’t forget to turn to him as your main source of comfort and strength.

Even if I walk through a valley as dark as the grave, I will not be afraid of any danger, because you are with me. Your rod and staff comfort me.

Psalm 23:4 (ERV)

Don’t worry—I am with you. Don’t be afraid—I am your God. I will make you strong and help you. I will support you with my right hand that brings victory.

Isaiah 41:10 (ERV)

Dear Lord, Thank you for being near when I need comfort and reassuring. You are with me, comfort me when I’m stressed and worried. Forgive me for worrying, when I know that you are in control. Amen.
