Money, Money, Money: May 20, 2020

Today is National Be a Millionaire Day. The idea is to imagine what you would do if you won a million dollars. One other way to actually make it a good goal for the day is to do something like open a savings account (or put money into your account). Being a millionaire seems like a rare thing… but did you know–in the US there are 18.6 million millionaires. Yikes!
We can get too focused on money–sometimes we get jealous of people who are rich, other times we worry about not having enough. Especially right now, there are a lot of people worrying about how to pay for things. But God tells us that money is one of the biggest things that can keep people from loving him.
10 Those who love money will never be satisfied with the money they have. Those who love wealth will not be satisfied when they get more and more. This is also senseless.
Ecclesiastes 5:10 (ERV)
10 The love of money causes all kinds of evil. Some people have turned away from what we believe because they want to get more and more money. But they have caused themselves a lot of pain and sorrow.
1 Timothy 6:10 (ERV)
God gives us what we need for each day–trust him to care for your needs. But try and catch yourself when you think you need more than you really do–there’s a big difference between needing and wanting.
Dear Father, Forgive me for being jealous of what other people have, and forgive me for not being content. Thank you for sending what I need for the day, and for giving me a home, people to care for me, food and clothes. Amen.
