Today is National Day of Giving. It’s the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, so the Tuesday after all the crazy Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping. Giving Tuesday fact: last year 3.6 million donations were placed, raising over 400 million dollars. But it’s not just about money–it’s about finding a way to give to your community. They even have an idea list just for kids, with ideas like cleaning up a beach, making cookies for neighbors or raking their leaves, stuff like that.
With Christmas coming up, it’s a great time to stop and think about how many ways you are blessed. And then stop and think about how you can turn it around and bless other people.
Today, think of a way to give. Can you be kind to your teacher? Can you give positive thinking and encouragement to the world? How can you make the world better today?
God tells us many times to be generous and give, not just a few times, but to make it part of our everyday habits.
7 Each one of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give. You should not give if it makes you unhappy or if you feel forced to give. God loves those who are happy to give.
2 Corinthians 9:7 (ERV)
Dear Father, forgive me for not being generous. Help me to give freely and to have a happy heart about it. Amen.
