With the last Star Wars movie out right now, it’s perfect timing because today is National Science Fiction Day. What is science fiction–it’s books and movies where things could never happen in reality, and they usually involve the future, new technology and inventions, space travel, time travel–all those sorts of things. But some people say that science fiction stories are basically the creator saying ‘What if…?’ What if robots could do_________…? What if we had time travel portals in our houses? What if..?? ‘ But at the same time, it teaches you something about the world we live in today. Good science fiction stories usually make people think, and make people question how they live, and what their purpose in life is.
We should question how we live. And we should know what our purpose in life is. So what is our purpose as Christians? This article sums it up quite nicely:
Seek God’s kingdom
Tell of his wonder and great works
Learn more about Him
Believe in His Word
Share His love
Become more like Christ
12 I don’t mean that I am exactly what God wants me to be. I have not yet reached that goal. But I continue trying to reach it and make it mine. That’s what Christ Jesus wants me to do. It is the reason he made me his.
Philippians 3:12 (ERV)
Dear Father, Help me to work on my purpose. This list seems like a lot, but help me remember that this is baby steps to work at all my life. I’m not meant to be perfect at it already, but thank you for saving me and making my life have meaning. Amen.
