Fun fact for the day: rhinos–did you know that rhinos can run 40 mph, their horns are made of keratin (which is the same stuff your fingernails are made of), and they can get sunburned which is why they cover themselves with mud. Also–I love this– a group of them is called a crash. A crash of rhinos, so awesome. There are five different types of rhinos and all of them are endangered–the Javan rhino is the most endangered with about 68-72 left, all living in a protected park in Java, Indonesia. Amazingly, this is more than a few years ago, as there have been people focused on saving them from poachers. Rhinos have been through a lot, but they are holding strong.

In yesterday’s devotion, we talked about purpose. The first one on the list is to glorify God. How can we glorify him? One way is to simply believe in His Grace. You have been forgiven, and saved, purely from his love. If you can say that you are a sinner, and am only saved through Jesus, it brings glory to God. Another way is in how you react when bad things happen. Do you know someone who glorified God, even when they were fighting cancer? Or maybe someone who is super generous, even though they are struggling to pay their own bills? Be the kind of person who can hold strong, like a rhino. Bring glory to God by not getting defeated, and still saying that God is good.

And we are also happy with the troubles we have. Why are we happy with troubles? Because we know that these troubles make us more patient. And this patience is proof that we are strong. And this proof gives us hope. And this hope will never disappoint us. We know this because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts through the Holy Spirit he gave us.

Romans 5:3-5 (ERV)

Dear Father, Help me to glorify you in my life, in my thoughts, my actions and in my sorrows. Lift me up and guide me. Amen.
