Today is World Giraffe Day, a day to appreciate giraffes. Did you know that giraffes only sleep about 2 hours a day, and yes, they do lay down to sleep (tho they can sleep standing up for short bits), they can weigh up to 3000 pounds, and they are between 14 and 20 feet tall. That’s really tall. Picture yourself looking up at the roof of your house… that tall.

You know who else you look up to? Your Dad. Yes, it’s also Father’s Day today, and it’s a good time to think about how you look up to your dad. Yes, he’s probably fun, and yes, you love to hang out with him–but looking up to him is more about respect. I know you respect your dad, but do you act like you do? Make sure you do what he asks–the first time… and seek out his advice. Ask him questions and really learn from him. Honor and obey. (remember–it’s even one of the 10 Commandments!)

“You must honor and respect your father and your mother. Do this so that you will have a full life in the land that the Lord your God gives you.

Exodus 20:12 (ERV)

Dear Lord, Thank you for my dad. Bless him, and give him wisdom. Forgive me when I don’t honor him. Amen.
