Fun facts for the day about…spiders: (if you know someone who gets creeped out by spiders, be nice and don’t pass on this info). Did you know: some spiders can catch fish, trapdoor spiders can make traps on the ground, in one acre of land there can be one million spiders… ew… Out of 3000 types of spiders, only a few actually bite humans–and spiders play a huge part in keeping the amount of pests and insects down. Even though most people can’t stand spiders, they are actually really helpful and we would be in big trouble without them.

How about you? Are you as helpful as a spider? Do you help around the house? Without being asked first? Without it being part of your chores? The most amazing part of offering to help someone is when you do it just because, not because you’re supposed to. Especially if you’re noticing that person may need help.

These days when you may be home from school, and everyone is at the house a lot more–do you notice that there are more dishes to wash? More dirt tracked around the house? More meals to make, snacks to get ready, cups to fill? How can you show God’s love by being considerate and offering to help?

In whatever you do, don’t let selfishness or pride be your guide. Be humble, and honor others more than yourselves. Don’t be interested only in your own life, but care about the lives of others too.

Philippians 2:3-4 (ERV)

Dear Lord, forgive me for not being helpful, and for not looking for ways to step in and help without being asked. Show me how to be more ready to help, and how to be more considerate of others around me. Amen.
