March 31, 2020: At War

Wow, you stay at home for a few weeks and –BAM!–it’s the end of March already. Fun fact about March–did you know the correct form is Martius in Latin, and March is actually named for Mars, the Roman god of War.
That’s appropriate, because I feel like we’ve been at war for the last month–the World vs. COVID19. It seems weird to fight something by doing…nothing. Staying at home is the best battle.
This is just one small part of all of history. We’ll remember this year, 2020 will be one that we all talk about later. But in God’s plan for all of us humans, this is a small bit. God wins the ultimate war against Satan and darkness. He is with us, He knows the future.
37 But in all these troubles we have complete victory through God, who has shown his love for us. 38-39 Yes, I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not death, life, angels, or ruling spirits. I am sure that nothing now, nothing in the future, no powers, nothing above us or nothing below us—nothing in the whole created world—will ever be able to separate us from the love God has shown us in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:37-39 (ERV)
Be at peace about all of this. And be patient with people–everyone has to deal with this in their own way.
7 And because you belong to Christ Jesus, God’s peace will stand guard over all your thoughts and feelings. His peace can do this far better than our human minds.
Philippians 4:7 (ERV)
Dear Father in Heaven, You are the Mighty Warrior, strong to save. Give us strength, peace and patience during this time. Amen.
