The last year, there’s been more people trying to get laws passed to make it harder to buy a gun, and to make it illegal to have a semi-automatic gun. Did you know that in Mexico, there is only one gun store for the whole country? So why do they have problems with gun violence still? 90% of the guns in Mexico are smuggled in from the US.
When you get older, you’ll have to think about things like politics–who would you vote for for mayor, governor, president, but also laws that change things like gun control. As we mentioned yesterday, it’s important to have God at the center of making decisions–everyday ones like stopping to help someone, all the way up to major ones later like jobs and who you should marry.
When God is at the center of your life, the difficult decisions are a teeny bit less stressful–you know God is in control no matter what. So how about you get into the habit of asking him for help now? Ask God to help you decide–are you going to be positive today, or not? Can you ask God to lead you in making right decisions about how to treat your friends?
2 Don’t change yourselves to be like the people of this world, but let God change you inside with a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to understand and accept what God wants for you. You will be able to know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.

Dear Lord, Guide my decisions today. Help me to make good choices that will honor you, that will show love to my friends and family, and that will make the world a more positive place. Amen.
