We just had the time change–most of you probably didn’t notice it much since it happened at 2am early Sunday morning, but you may be noticing it tonight when all of a sudden it’s dark before dinner time. Did you know that there’s a term called SAD? It stands for a condition where people get low energy and deal with sad feelings because of there being less sunlight.
Do you ever get sad, for no real reason? It happens, we all have bad days, we all have days where we get the blues. And that’s okay. But even when you’re sad, remember that God is keeping his hands on you. Sometimes we get overwhelmed and think we need to fix things, but often what we need is to pray for help. God loves you. Remember when we talked about being positive? When you’re feeling your most negative and crabby, come up with a saying or a prayer that is confident and is about change –and say it out loud to yourself (it’s okay to whisper it into your pillow so nobody but God hears it). You don’t have to believe it, but say it anyways. The more you say it, the more you’ll believe it. Try saying “I’m ready to be positive Lord.” It won’t automatically change your negative thoughts to positive ones, but it will help you feel like you’re talking to God about it, and that you’re open to working at it. It may take time, but all things that are worth something take time, effort and practice.
Don’t worry—I am with you.
Isaiah 41:10 (ERV)
Don’t be afraid—I am your God.
I will make you strong and help you.
Dear Lord, You are Mighty, forgive me if I lose faith. Help me to be more positive, and give me the words to help other people who are struggling. Amen.
