So, today is a pretty uncommon National Day… it’s National Welsh Rarebit Day, which is a type of food. What’s a rarebit? It’s a Welsh nickname for rabbit … but before you totally gross out–Welsh Rarebit does not have rabbit in it–it’s toast with hot cheese poured over it, and apparently tastes a lot like fondue cheese on toast. Whew!

So a Rarebit is kind of like saying it’s rabbit, but it isn’t. And that’s what Christians are like if they say they are a Christian, but their life is empty of anything Christian-like. If you don’t show love, compassion, humbleness, and if your language is mean, negative and awful–how are you showing your Christian faith? If we are just living for ourselves, something is missing. Take a look at your life–is it an empty Rarebit? Or is it full of Christian love, words and actions?

If we obey what God has told us to do, then we are sure that we know him. If we say we know God but do not obey his commands, we are lying. The truth is not in us. But when we obey God’s teaching, his love is truly working in us. This is how we know that we are living in him.

1 John 2:3-5 (ERV)

Dear Lord, Forgive me when I’m focused just on me. I love you, help me to show that love in my life. Help me to show how thankful I am to you for loving me. Amen.
