Today is National Wildlife Day, to think about wildlife and animals around us in all forms. One big focus is on endangered species, to think about how our world can make the changes needed to help wildlife survive. Some animals like the Hawksbill sea turtle is endangered due to coral reefs deteriorating and people wanting their shells, other animals like Asian elephants are in danger due to hunters killing them for their tusks.
God gave us this world and put in charge of taking care of it. Are there any small things you can do to help the world? Maybe using less plastic? Maybe not wasting food? And in the future–are there inventions just waiting for someone your age to discover? Maybe one of you will change the world?
26 Then God said, “Now let’s make humans[f] who will be like us.[g] They will rule over all the fish in the sea and the birds in the air. They will rule over all the large animals and all the little things that crawl on the earth.”
Genesis 1:26-28 (ERV)
27 So God created humans in his own image. He created them to be like himself.[h]He created them male and female. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Have many children. Fill the earth and take control of it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the air. Rule over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Dear Lord, Thank you for this amazing planet, with all its beauty, animals and your amazing people. Help me learn how to care for it, and to make a difference in the world. Amen.
