Sports Again : August 1, 2020

If you’re a sports fan, you know that sports have been slowly coming back–in the US, the NBA just started, and baseball has been going on for about a week… but they’re playing in empty stadiums–have you watched yet? In one way, it’s kind of cool because you can actually hear what the players are saying, and the sounds of the game. But in another way… have you seen those cardboard cutouts in the stands at baseball? All those flat, cardboard faces staring at you… it’s a teeny bit creepy. Kinda like a really, really big version of the book Flat Stanley 🙂
As Christians, we should not be living a flat existence. Even in the middle of COVID, even if you can’t do what you normally would–we have hope, joy, love and a fullness of God to be thankful for. Live fully for God. Don’t be like a cardboard cutout watching–live for God. Be 100% in your life for him.
Find your delight in the Lord. Then he will give you everything your heart really wants.
Psalm 37:4 (NIRV)
Dear God, Almighty Creator. You are worthy of all I have, all my praise, all my love. THANK YOU for life, for the promise of Heaven so I don’t have to be afraid of death. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
