February 10, 2020 – Cat & Mouse
80 years ago today, the first episode of a famous cartoon called “Tom & Jerry” first was shown. Tom and Jerry are a cat and mouse that don’t get along. Tom (the cat), tries to catch Jerry, but the mouse usually outsmarts him. Every once in a while, they team up, but mostly, they are enemies. Fun fact about Tom and Jerry–the cartoons were nominated for Academy Awards 13 times, and won 8 times for Best Short Cartoon.
I hope you don’t have an enemy like Jerry and Tom. But sometimes we do have people we don’t get along with. What are we supposed to do with people who we don’t get along with? Love them. Pray for them. You may not end up friends, but you can still remember that they are created by God, just like you are.
46 If you love only those who love you, why should you get a reward for that? Even the tax collectors do that. 47 And if you are nice only to your friends, you are no better than anyone else. Even the people who don’t know God are nice to their friends.

Dear Father in Heaven, forgive me for not being nice to everyone. Help me to do better, remind me that you created every human, and I need to pray for everyone around me. Amen.
