Today is National Pizza Day! ‘ZA!! We couldn’t miss this one for sure. Fun fact: besides SuperBowl Sunday, what is another holiday that people order a ton of pizza for? … Halloween. Bonus fun fact about pizza: did you know that in 2001, Pizza Hut delivered a pizza to astronauts in outer space? They had to make it with extra spices since your taste gets duller in outer space, and they put salami on it (because apparently salami can last for a while without molding… not sure if that’s a good or bad thing). But I’m guessing the people making it could smell it really strongly with all those extra spices on it.

Often in the Bible, when it talks about sacrifice, it says it’s a pleasant smell to God–if it’s done with a pure heart, with repentance, thankfulness, humility and love.

The sacrifice that God wants is a humble spirit. God, you will not turn away someone who comes with a humble heart and is willing to obey you.

Psalm 51:17 (ERV)

You are God’s dear children, so try to be like him. Live a life of love. Love others just as Christ loved us. He gave himself for us—a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice to God.

Ephesians 5:1-2 (ERV)

Dear Lord, teach me how to make each day for you, to be humble, thankful, loving, and to confess my sins to you each day. Thank you, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
