Finders Keepers: May 26, 2020

In the news, a family was driving down the road in Virginia when they saw a bag in the middle of the road. They picked it up and put it in the back of their pickup truck, making it safer for other drivers. They came across a second one, and put it in the back of the truck too. When they got home and opened them, they found the bags were full of money–about a million dollars worth. What did this family do? They called the police and turned the money in.

That is a great example of honesty–there are people out there who would have kept the money for themselves. But it is much better to live a life of honesty and have a good reputation, than to have lots of money, and little to be proud of for your character.

Honest people can always feel secure, but lying cheaters will be caught

Proverbs 10:9 (ERV)

Do what is right and fair. The Lord loves that more than sacrifices.

Proverbs 21:3 (ERV)

Dear Lord, forgive me for when I think of myself and don’t treat people with honesty and respect. Give me the courage to do the right thing when the time comes. Amen.
