Okay, this still makes no sense even though I’ve done the math… the 10th president of the US was President John Tyler–he was born in 1790, 230 years ago. He has two grandsons who are still alive!?! How??? Basically President Tyler was really old when he had his son, and then his son was really old when he had his sons… and the two grandsons are over 90 years old each now in the year 2020 (92 & 96 years old)…
The Bible has a lot of those kinds of lists–names of fathers, the sons, the grandsons, and on, and on. Sometimes those are hard to read without kinda getting sleepy, but it shows God’s plan. From Adam through Abraham, through David, all the way to Joseph. God had a plan for each one of those parents, children, families. It’s kinda cool to think that God has that stuff mapped out for us. We don’t see it, but we know He does. And that’s much better.
If I was in charge of the map, and where my life was going–I’d probably mess it up. But God sees where to take me.
Trust the Lord completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge.
Proverbs 3:5 (ERV)
21 People might make many plans, but what the Lord says is what will happen.
Proverbs 19:21 (ERV)
11 I say this because I know the plans that I have for you.” This message is from the Lord. “I have good plans for you. I don’t plan to hurt you. I plan to give you hope and a good future.
Jeremiah 29:11 (ERV)
Dear Father, forgive me when I think I know everything, take my life and let it be pleasing to you, Lord. Give me peace, knowing that you are in charge. Amen.
