Today is National “I Want You to be Happy” Day. The cool thing about today is that you have to put yourself in someone else’s shoes (pretend to be them for a bit)–and then ask yourself “what can I do to make that person happy”? Maybe your friend loves jokes–find a new one to tell them. Maybe brownies make your mom super happy… see where we’re going with this?? You can be a part of making someone happy. You do have to think about what the other person loves though for it to work.

Usually we focus on what makes us happy–what do I want to eat, what do I want to play. Have you ever tried for a whole day, shoot, even for an hour, tried to think of what someone else would want to do??

Putting others first–how often does God tell us to do that?

Don’t be selfish; don’t live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. Don’t just think about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and in what they are doing.

Philippians 2:3-4 (ERV)

Dear Lord, forgive me for focusing just on myself and what I want. Help me to see others more clearly and to think of what they want, and how to make them happy. Amen.
