Today is National Eat What You Want Day. It’s sounds fantastic and the idea is that for ONE day, don’t worry about if things are healthy or not–just go for it. Problem is… a lot of us eat this way all the time. How many of you guys go to the fridge and grab… a carrot for a snack? I’m guessing the chips, fruit snacks, cookies… those go first. It’s easy to lose focus on the purpose of eating which is to fuel your body, not to eat whatever sounds good.

I don’t know about your house, but over here… some days we struggle, on eating healthy, but also on remote learning, school from home –it can be a grind. Most of you probably have another month or so to go. So this is a time to re-focus, not to lose focus.

The Bible tells us to not live for what we want, which is sinful and selfish.

People who live following their sinful selves think only about what they want. But those who live following the Spirit are thinking about what the Spirit wants them to do.

Romans 8:5 (ERV)

As you go about your day today, think of how you can re-focus on thinking about what the Spirit would want you do do today.

Dear Father, Son and Holy Spirit, be with me today. Have mercy on me, for I am a sinner and I am selfish in my thinking. Forgive me, and help me to follow the fruits of the Spirit today. Amen.
