In sports yesterday, a player for the NY Mets baseball team, Pete Alonso, hit home run #53 to set a new record for the most home runs in a season by a rookie (player in his first year). Fun fact: on today’s date, Babe Ruth hit his 54th home run of the season, which was a record for most home runs in a season at the time. Do you know what the record is now? 73. Yikes, that’s a lot. Barry Bonds did it in 2001.

So maybe you won’t hit 73 home runs. Maybe you won’t play on a team. But you have someone rooting for you–yes, God is. You know that God wants the best for you right? And even if it isn’t what you thought, you know that God is loyal and loves you more than our brains can understand. Whether you succeed in the ways of our world or not, He’s rooting for you.

May he give you what you really want.
May he make all your plans successful.
We will celebrate when he helps you.
We will praise the name of God.
May the Lord give you everything you ask for.

Psalm 20:4-5 (ERV)

Dear Lord, thank you for cheering for me. Thank you for celebrating over me. Amen.
