We’re in the heat of battle in NFL season, so here’s a couple of fun facts about the NFL: did you know it takes about 600 cows to make all the footballs for the season? A cow has only a 1 in 17,420,000 chance of becoming an NFL football that is used in the Super Bowl. Also, though a game lasts about 3 hours, the ball is only in play for about 11 minutes total. And one more: Deion Sanders is the only person to play in a World Series AND a Superbowl AND he scored a touchdown and hit a home run IN THE SAME WEEK. That’s greatness for sure.

We are competing too, in the Bible it tells us to keep working and keep running.

I don’t mean that I am exactly what God wants me to be. I have not yet reached that goal. But I continue trying to reach it and make it mine. That’s what Christ Jesus wants me to do. It is the reason he made me his. 13 Brothers and sisters, I know that I still have a long way to go. But there is one thing I do: I forget what is in the past and try as hard as I can to reach the goal before me. 14 I keep running hard toward the finish line to get the prize that is mine because God has called me through Christ Jesus to life up there in heaven.

Philippians 3:12-14 (ERV)

Dear Lord, Help me to keep working hard, but fill me with your Spirit. You give me what I need, and I can’t do much without you Lord. You made me yours. Thank you for that. Amen.
