Trinity 1
Devotions for Kids

Trinity

Today is National Candy Cane Day –one of the four main food groups according to Buddy the Elf: candy, candy canes, candy corn and syrup. There are different stories about Candy Canes, but some stories show candy canes were invented back in the 1600’s in Germany to keep kids quiet during church service. The hook shape was possibly to remind them of shepherd’s crooks. Today, there are many people who say the red stripes represent Christianity–if you get an authentic candy cane, there is a thick red stripe, and three thin stripes. The thick red stripe stands for Jesus’ blood, the white is his purity, and the three thin stripes stand for the Trinity=God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Think of the Trinity today–even if you may not see candy canes, maybe there will be a triangle–keep the message of Father, Son & Holy Spirit today.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

2 Corinthians 13:14 (ESV)

Dear Father, Son and Holy Spirit, be near me today. Amen.
