Protests are still going on, but one good thing is that change is happening. Right now, some cities and states are making laws to change how police respond to situations. And another change is that people are trying to learn as much as they can about the black experience in America.

One thing you can do–take a look at your bookshelf. Do you have a variety of culture and experience on your shelves? If not, it’s a good time to read a book written by a black author, or one that has a black main character. Or what about an Indigenous American? Or Cuban? See if you can do your part by learning about how other people grow up in different parts of the US, or different parts of the world. Right now, there are lists of books online for both adults and kids, that will help you understand a bit about the world.

See the world through someone else’s eyes– reading is a great way to start. Try your best to understand the world, and all of God’s children.

The Lord is as kind to his followers as a father is to his children.

Psalm 103:13 (ERV)

Dear Lord, help our world. Give me motivation to read and listen to people from all areas of the globe, so I can do better at understanding and loving others. Amen.
